Rural engages with ideas of landscape and periphery without drawing on conventional landscape imagery. Colour fields, horizontal layers, and a few vertical accents form visual fields in which expanse, distance, and marginality are suggested. The works ask how little information is needed to sustain an idea of “outside” — and which decisions shape that idea.

This is not about a specific village or a concrete topography, but about the structural difference between centre and edge. The images probe the extent to which rural spaces have already become abstracted surfaces in the way we think: as background, projection site, territory that is at once open and overlooked. Rural holds this ambivalence in the image without resolving it.
