Urban

Urban continues this exploration of urban space, but shifts the focus more strongly toward transitions and possible zones of staying. The works are built from vertical blocks, edges, and zones in which density and openness stand immediately alongside one another. They ask where, within such a configuration, space for pause, encounter, or calm might still be imaginable.

The series also takes up the experience of a present in which architecture and density are often felt as pressure. Within pictorial space, these relations can be recalibrated: permeabilities are tested, ruptures made visible, in-between spaces marked. Urban does not propose a concrete city, but examines from image to image what an urban life might look like that is not simply subjected to existing structures.
